Captain

Jay is the anchor and fearless leader of the family. His lifetime of sailing experience allows us the freedom to undertake this endeavour. His engineering background also grants him the honor of being Mr. Maintenance and logistics manager.
Living on a boat and sailing in the Pacific has been a lifelong dream of Jay’s. He patiently waited for his wife to accept and no longer require that the boat be suitable for riding a horse on deck. As a family, we are so grateful to be in his wonderfully capable hands and eager to continue seeking out new adventures.
Skipper

Sarah, otherwise known as “cruise director”. She is actively trying to eliminate the term “deck fluff” from Jay’s vocabulary. She is slowly acclimatizing to not being in control and in charge of all logistics and daily activities. Additionally, Jay regularly monitors her online searches to ensure that she doesn’t register for needless online Master’s programs just because she feels she is not being productive enough.
She has redirected her energy to being the principle teacher of “G.A.M.S.” (Great Amazing Mom School ~ truly named by the boys~). She is very thankful to have the opportunity to step back and spend much needed time with her wonderful family and continues to seek out and promote epic adventures during their travels.
She still endeavours to stay physically active and continues to claim that her kettlebells and dumbbells serve as much needed ballast.
Crew #1

Evan is our diligent AIS CPA monitor and ensures that no other vessel will come within 500 metres of Elation. He is quick to point out all passing aircraft and can easily identify airline and model of each airplane as well as give you a history lesson on the development of flight and airline companies. His current aspiration is to become a pilot of a Westjet Dreamliner.
He is a voracious reader of books, and a fierce protector of his beloved stuffed Elephant “Elly”. He also is a very talented artist that continues to diligently work on his craft daily.
Crew #2

James is our keen deck hand. He is always involved in sail changes and winch handling and wants to lend a helping hand in all projects and activities. He is a speed demon and always wants us to eek more speed out of Elation, often in opposition to Evan and Sarah’s encouragement to reef in the sails.
He actively directed us to all noted, accessible soccer pitches in the entire Adriatic. He adores rhinoceroses and ultimately is pushing to get a real baby rhino for Christmas. He firmly believes this is an acceptable pet for a sailboat.
